summer days are here

While summer took its time getting here-I am not so sure I am enjoying the 90 degree weather and high humidity. But we, or should I say my kiddos, are making the best of it:

Eden singing the Itsy Bitsy Spider

Please, someone explain to my children that we do NOT like snakes! Yikes!... and we do NOT shout "YEAH" when daddy brings them to us!

Can you touch your toes like this?

diapers

So-we blew through $300.00 worth of diapers already from the last time I blogged about diapers. We used to use a Diaper Champ-one of those great devices to throw your diapers in and keeps the smell in too. Well, the Diaper Champ lost the match, and the big old garbage pail won out. With 3 little bottoms to change, we were filling up the champ in less than a day and the champ couldn't keep up. It's a good thing we live in the boonies and people from the road can't see a big garbage pail on the front porch with little white round lumps in it. What a sight!

Memorable Performance

So, there are good days and there are bad. Today was a bad one. It all started out fine-- breakfast, getting dressed, etc.--Then we got to church. My sweet little angelic 2 year olds (maybe I am pushing the angelic part) turned into stinker pots. There is a class called cradle roll for ages 0-3 with activities and songs (many of which we sing all week long) to keep them busy--and they do pretty well following directions and participating in class. Not today. Eden, Miss Sensitive lately, had several crying episodes and Elle, The Scientist, was busy exploring and doing her 'own' thing. And of all things, today there was a program in the main church and the little ones were supposed to go up front to sing "Ring-a-ling-a-ling" and ring their little hand bells. I should've known before we even went into the church sanctuary that is was a bad idea when Elle, whose hand I was holding, (I had the baby in the other arm) started flopping around, falling to the ground and throwing a tantrum. Eden wasn't behaving any better with Blaine. We got up to the front of the church and of course, we were last, so we ended up being in the FRONT of all these parent w/their babies and little ones. As soon as the teacher started the song, Eden started crying and threw her bells off the platform. Elle, who is Monkey See Monkey do, threw her bells and both started throwing temper tantrums. I could just feel the heat rise in my body. Of all places and with everyone watching--why?? UGH! This is a memorable Performance all right-one in which I'd love to forget.

my blog list

I have added several new blogs on 'my blog list'. There are some very cool photography blogs and cooking blogs-I especially love The Pioneer Woman. She does it all! I am adding a disclaimer about the blog 'matt, liz, and madeline'. Yes, there is swearing on Matt's blog and I am not fond of the swearing part, but I am a follower. Matt's is a tragic story where his wife had a difficult pregnancy, was 5 weeks on bed rest, than 27 hours following her C-section, she died of a PE (pulmonary embolism) from a clot that traveled from her legs to her lungs. Liz never got to hold little Madeline. This blog has 40,000 daily readers and is about the life of a single dad---this particular blog was featured in People Magazine.

Eden

These snapshots of Eden were taken within about 2 minutes time. I am continually amazed at how fast my little twinnies move and how quickly their facial expressions change. No wonder two year olds still need naps!

The Heron is Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am happy to report that Friday evening we received a call from the Howell Wildlife Rehabilitation Program saying that the Heron was ready to be returned. 35 minutes later, 2 volunteers were at our home with a very feisty Heron-- very different from the weak and subdued Heron that was deteriorating nearly 11 days earlier when Blaine captured him. What a beautiful sight when the cage was opened and the bird flew out, over the pond, and landed right where we usually see him. The vet had said earlier that they like to return adult birds to their natural home habitat. She said it was up to the bird to decide if he wanted to stay. Well, he must like home because I have seen him twice since Friday evening. We can not be more grateful to the Howell Wildlife Conference and Nature Center. It is heartwarming to know there are people out there who go to extraordinary lengths to take care of wildlife.

quads

Quads: just the thought is scary!

One observation I have made since becoming a mother of multiples.....................I meet so many women who enviously say to me, "I've ALWAYS wanted to have twins!"

I belong to a mother of multiples club and not one of the women who've gotten pregnant after having twins/triplets/quads have EVER said about their current pregnancy, "Oh, I wish I were having twins!"

(And yes, I ALWAYS wanted twins too-still am pinching myself that I have all these beautiful little girls)
